Solar Landscape Lights

Solar landscape lights are a great way to add nighttime emphasis to your lawn. With today’s better and cheaper technology it’s dead easy to find great solar landscape lights. It’s not unusual to find nice lights for under five dollars each.

Here are some of the benefits of adding solar landscape lights to your lawn:

I particularly like solar landscape lights, for all the above reasons. Plus also allows the guy in me to have some fun with electronic toys. I’m hoping the next year solar landscape lights become brighter and have options like shimmering effects. No doubt Christmas will take advantage of this too.

Installation of solar landscape lights

As mentioned earlier, installing solar landscape lights are quite easy. One thing to keep in mind, is to keep them absolutely plumb. Nothing looks more unprofessional than landscape lights that are tilting on a bit of an angle. This can be tricky, when dealing with rocks and such in the ground. When I put in my landscape lights, this was definitely a problem. The cheaper lights use plastic ends that will flex when being installed in the ground. It would be better if the bottoms are made of metal instead of plastic.

Also consider the spacing between the lights. You want to balance this out with the size and shape of your deck, plants and your house. One way to speed up installation, is to get some inexpensive quarter-inch wood dowelling. Use the doweling which is cut in 1 and a 1/2 foot lengths as mockups for your lights to find that the best place to install your lights in the end.

So remember, solar landscape lights are a great addition to your lawn. They’re cheap, easy to install and simply beautiful to see at night.
